FIELD NOTES / PEOPLE & PROCESS

A conversation with Art’eo

01

A passion discovered through experimentation

Matteo, known as Art’eo, comes from Romagna, Italy. After exploring different art forms, he found a language of curiosity, precision and concentration in microsculpture. His starting point is an everyday pencil, whose lead becomes a place for figures, landscapes and miniature worlds.

02

Patience before form

Carving pencil lead means working with a fragile material. Tips break, attempts take time and every gesture matters. That sustained attention also gives Matteo energy: a quiet practice in which an idea slowly becomes visible.

03

An invitation to look closer

Animals, characters, lettering, still lifes and everyday objects appear in his work. Their tiny scale changes how we look, inviting us to move closer and notice details. The gallery presents finished microsculptures selected by Sidewalk.
